Bailey won recent Piping Hot Surf Fest pro junior
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 13 January, 2014 - Sydney - O’Neill Australia is proud to announce the signing of one of the worlds best emerging young surfers, Solamon 'Storm' Bailey. Born and raised in the crystal clear waters of Byron Bay, Soli’s surfing speaks volumes about his upbringing. Part soulful, part experimental, but always explosive, with a focus on full blown power.
At 18 years of age, Soli who has local indigenous bloodlines can surely lay claim to being a true Aussie North Coast local. An amazing junior competition record (2nd ISA World Games, and current Australian junior ratings leader), leaves no doubt of the hungry competitor inside and the want to one day achieve on the world stage.
For the moment though, it is all about having fun, progressing, surfing hard, and simply trying to capture it all. Soli and his good friend from Byron Kaius Potter, will do this through their shared vision on angst.com.au.
"I am super stoked to sign on with the O’Neill team, as they are the original surf brand, and have always made the best wetsuits in the world. Not only that, I am able to join a solid team and surf with guys like Jordy Smith".
"Soli represents a fusion of committed rail surfing and new school experimentation” says; Rob Bain O’Neill APAC Marketing Manager. He is a cool kid, and we are not only keen to see him grow as a surfer, but also to have the ability to showcase to the world what he can do."
New O'Neill Australia surf team signing Soli Bailey wasted no time in 2014, winning the Pro Junior title at the Piping Hot Surf Festival at Bells Beach (VIC) in early January
Michael Neil, General Manager of O’Neill Asia-Pacific, adds, "We are really rapt to sign on Soli, as he represents the O’Neill brand, and where we are headed. He is young and creative, has an interest in our products, and has a really great vibe about him. Add to that, he is also an amazing surfing talent. We look forward to working with Soli on the O’Neill "Rider Developed, Rider Proven" philosophy, and helping him achieve his surfing goals".
