O“Neill SurfGirl weekend
Thumbs up for the O¹Neill SurfGirl weekend at Newquay
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 July 2004: - - Conditions for the first O¹Neill SurfGirl weekend on 10-11 July weren¹t exactly ideal to start with. On the first day it was windy, cold and rainy but despite the weather the girls had a brilliant day and really enjoyed the comprehensive surfing lessons.
Apart from the thrill of standing up for the first time and for the more advanced girls making their first bottom turn the highlight of the day was meeting British number one and O¹Neill pro surfer Robyn Davies. The girls were stoked to see her in the water with them giving them one-on-one instruction.
British team coach Ester Spears turned up in the afternoon to take photographs and video the girls surfing. This was shown to the group at the Fistral International Surf Centre in the evening and Ester along with Robyn gave the girls plenty of tips on how to improve their surfing.
Advice taken on board the girls returned to the beach the next morning bright and early. Luckily the conditions had improved and the girls were greeted with two foot clean surf and sunshine, perfect for honing their skills learnt the day before.

So it was into the surf for more instruction. At the end of the weekend the instructors were impressed with how far the girls had come, ³They were a great bunch,² said Emma Turner, ³Their spirit was amazing and as we had them all weekend we were able to progress a lot further with their surfing.²
The weekend wound down with a post surf relaxing yoga session with top yoga teacher Claire Harrison. Just the thing for sore muscles! All in all the girls had a great time and many of them said they¹d book up for the next O¹Neill SurfGirl weekend to be held on 10/11th September.
You can book up by contacting Rob on 01637 878074 or email rob@orcasurf.co.uk the price is £99.
Here“s what they said:

³It was totally brilliant. My surfing came on a lot. Robyn was brilliant and the yoga was very chilled.² Caroline Morgan, Plymouth.
³I learnt loads of different tricks on my board. Robyn was really good and the instructors were funny.² Anastasia Swallow, 12, Penzance.
