VQS Pufferfish Series Big Island event blasts at Banyons

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 19 February 2004: - - The annual Pufferfish Big Island event went down at Banyons in Kona town on Feb 14th, 2004. The event was held in good 3-4ft surf, and the weather couldn´t have been better. The BBQ started blazin at ten o´clock, and everyone was chillin Kona style. Over 80 kids and a load of spectators showed up for some cash and a ton of free prizes.

The Girls showed up to throw it down and it finished with Jenny Crusat, grabbing the win. Gia Fontay finished in second, followed by Tiffany Beaudet, and Kamalu Hawelu.

In the Grom division it was Haku Makaio just edging out Bullet Obra for the win! Waylen Carenio, and Levi Gonzales rounded out the 4 man final.

The Juniors division was more heated with prizes, local pride, and VQS Invites on the line. Evan Obra shined as he took out the entire class with solid performance. Jimmy McKenny had an impressive performance as well. Byran Peterson, and Kenny Sogi, surfed strong and finished in that order.

The Pro-Am with a variety of competitors with local pride on the line it was Chad Detontes with win, defeating Travis Sasaki, Kahana Stone, Makai McMichael, Eddie Hui Hui, and Barry Levendaumi.
