Braunton wins Lost/Bodyglove British Schools Championships

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 19 April 2004: - - Braunton School became this year’s champion of the Lost Bodyglove British Schools Surfing Championships, narrowly defeating Kingsbridge and Treviglas (Newquay) who came 2nd 3rd respectively.

In 3-4ft onshore challenging surf conditions, Adam Thornton (Braunton School) put in an outstanding performance to win the Junior (Under 18) division. Bethan Mason managed to pick the larger set waves and dominate her final and take the trophy in the Girls division. Tom Butler (Treviglas) surfed exceptionally well to win the Cadets division. In the Longboard Adam Griffiths (King Edwards) showed his natural surfing talent to win a close fought final. In the Youth (Under 14) Aiden Wright (Treviglas) put in another strong performance to take the title.

The Bodyboard divisions gave an indication of the growth with a big entry of that discipline within surfing, the eventual winners being: Junior Bodyboard (Under 18) and Cadet Bodyboard Under 16) Mark Baker (Truro) and Girls Bodyboard Rowenna Farr (Kingsbridge

A record 140 surfers representing 42 teams from all over the country competed at Woolacombe during the weekend.
