Biggest waves ever ridden in Australia! -- locals & Pros

Big Wave Sessions - Australia
Biggest Waves Ever Ridden in Australia!
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 11 April, 2006 : - - After the amazing footage captured last week no one thought that Australia could produce any larger waves. Well we were proved wrong as Cinematogahper Justin Gane was once again on location for www.podsurf.tv, the newest surf podcasting channel to exclusively capture the biggest waves ever ridden in Australia!
After closely watching the swell and weather reports the boys made the long journey back to the secret location for a second time round , only this time they were greeted by a once in a lifetime swell, and this time the place was 10ft bigger.
Equiped with Jet Ski’s and a boat, World No.5 and podsurf.tv team rider Phil Macdonald joined Clint Kimmins and a few close friends to tow into waves that will go down in Australian surfing history. Phil surfed the monster waves without being strapped into his board.
Justin said – “I love it when a plan comes together”. All the elements just came together in one of those rare moments that one would wish to experience just once in their life. I haven’t felt this excited since last filming Shipstern and this session is one I will cherish forever. I have never seen waves that size before, especially that close, thanks to our great boat drivers that took me where I needed to be. I don’t imagine I will see waves like that again in Oz, but I can only hope. Catch all the action from last weeks groundbreaking session tonight on www.podsurf.tv and stay tuned next week as we up the ante to bring you the biggest ever waves ever surfed in Australia. After the session Phil Macdonald said – “I thought last week was huge but this was on an entirely different level, The whole ocean seemed to rise up on the reef, I have never experienced surfing monster waves like those, it was just so much fun” I was that excited to get out there I didn’t even have time to strap myself in!”
