HOLDING PERIOD ENDS FOR 2007 IQUIQUE, CHILE INTERNATIONAL TOW-IN SURFING CHAMPS
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 September, 2007 : - - The Association of Professional Towsurfers (APT), and Gottaplay (OTCBB: GTAP), a leading destination site for video gamers and sponsors of the Gottaplay.com APT World Cup Tour, announced today the holding period for the Iquique, Chile International Tow-In Surfing Championship has officially ended.
The holding period for the event, which was scheduled to take place at ‘El Bajo Cacho Toro’ in Iquique, Chile, started July 1, 2007 and lasted thru September 1, 2007. Unfortunately, the perfect storm never developed and now the competitors and event organizers will have to wait for next year to have their big day in Chile.
The ‘Iquique, Chile International Tow-In Surfing Championship’ was one of two scheduled events for the 2007 Gottaplay.com APT World Cup Tour. The first event, ‘Red Bull El Gigante Viene’ entered its holding period May 1, 2007 and ran thru July 30, 2007.
With a team of expert forecasters and the LOLA global swell model, Surfline.com provided the forecasting needed to make the right call during all potential swells that were on the maps. Surfline.com will continue to assist APT score the biggest waves and best conditions for all future APT events.
For the 2007 tour, the comprised list of 20 international and world-class competing teams selected for this series of events were comprised of the top 8 winning teams that competed in the Bank of Hawaii North Shore Tow-In Surfing Championship this past February. Also, a sub-committee of big wave industry leaders and experts voted 8 world-class professional tow-in teams in. Four wild card team slots were also provided along with an alternate list.
