Big swell - Eddie & World Cup Tow-in could go today

HIGH SURF WARNING

NORTHWEST FACING SHORES OF ALL THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS
North Shore Oahu, 6 January 2002 : Extra large surf in Hawaii today. Smaller in the morning with about 10+ feet and definitely over 20 feet in the afternoon. Messy conditions with light to moderate onshore North winds. Raining in the morning cleaning up in the afternoon. The past few hours buoy#1 readings show the swell with 23 feet, 17 seconds and Northeast winds.
Conditions at Waimea and Jaws can be good tomorrow for the big wave riding contests. Mike Stewart International Pipeline Pro 2002 presented By Rockstar Games, event waiting period also starts tomorrow, January 7 and goes through the 16th, with four days of contest.
Plenty of large waves in the forecasting for this coming week. Another large swell is right behind this one and could reach the islands by Wednesday. The wind is supposed to be light variable in the next couple of days.
