Rip Curl GromSearch National Final to Commence During Rip Curl Pro Search "Somewhere in San Francisco"

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 31 October, 2011 : - - Costa Mesa -- The nation's top talent has earned their way to compete on the premiere stage of professional surfing - The Rip Curl Pro Search "Somewhere in San Francisco". With this year's Rip Curl GromSearch National Final presented by H2O Overdrive uniquely set in conjunction with the 11th stop of the ASP World Tour, the nation's top 16/under competitors will be brought to the world like never before.

What started 12 years ago as a grassroots movement has now matured into one of the premiere surfing platforms in the world. The Rip Curl GromSearch had regional events in Huntington Beach (West Coast), Kewalo's (Hawaii), New Smyrna Beach (Florida), and the Outer Banks (Mid-Atlantic). Regional qualifiers got the big invite to compete in the National Final, which is set to take place between November 3-6.

Ocean Beach, San Francisco is affectionately known for its challenging conditions, cold water, sizable surf, and fierce paddle-outs - all components that should play an integral role into this year's event. With a 4-day waiting period, competition directors will be selecting the ideal time for the GromSearch competitors to showcase their talent.

"I can't wait," stated GromSearch National Final competitor and Rip Curl teamrider, Taylor Clark. "I've never surfed in Ocean Beach before, and the chance to surf alongside an ASP World Tour event is an epic opportunity. Let's go!"

Aside from the glory, there’s a lot sitting on the line to motivate the talent pool. In addition to prize money offered for each division, the winners of the Boys & Girls 16/under divisions will win all-expenses paid trips to Bells Beach, Australia to compete in the GromSearch International Final held in conjunction with the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach!
