Perú logra el 7mo lugar en el Mundial Junior de Surf
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 23 April, 2012 : - - Luego de ocho intensos días de competencia, nuestro seleccionado Junior de surf logró ubicarse en el puesto 7 del “Dakine ISAWorld Junior Surfing Championship”, el cual se desarrolló, hasta hoy, en playa Venao - Panamá. Alonso Correa (Sub 16) se colocó en el puesto 7 del ranking mientras que Miluska Tello obtuvo el 8vo lugar en la categoría Damas.
Fueron ocho días de competencia en donde doce de nuestros mejores surfistas juniors de la nación fueron a representar la blanca y roja con mucha garra y entrega. Superando serie a serie a grandes tablistas mundialmente, estos juniors lograron colocarse en el puesto 7 de un total de 30 países.
Miluska Tello y Alonso Correa fueron los dos únicos surfistas peruanos que continuaron la lucha en el día final del Mundial Junior. Miluska no logró pasar su heat de repechaje despidiéndose del torneo con un meritorio 8vo lugar.
“El heat de hoy fue uno de los más difíciles que me pudo tocar. Me enfrenté dos australianas y una americana, las olas estaban igual para todas. Hice lo que pude y luche hasta el final. Me voy feliz por mi octavo lugar y porque mejoré mi puesto a comparación del año pasado”, dijo Miluska.
Alonso Correa tuvo una dura pelea en Sub 16. A centésimas de clasificar a la siguiente ronda, el guerrero Correa obtuvo el tercer lugar de su serie de repechaje consiguiendo el 7mo lugar del ranking mundial.
“Luché mi serie pero lamentablemente no pude pasar sin embargo di lo mejor de mí. Quede tercer pero es increíble quedar 7mo en el mundo en mi categoría Sub 16. Todo el equipo estuvo bien unido alentándome en la orilla y se sintió esa garra y energías dentro del mar”, declaró Alonso Correa.
Ambos, al igual que todo el equipo, consiguieron importantes puntos para el Team peruano y, gracias a ellos, nuestra blanca y roja logró el puesto 7 de esta edición del ISA Junior. “Estamos muy contentos por lo que ha logrado el Perú durante estos días. Llegamos al día final con dos competidores y todos dejaron todo en la cancha. Han dado una buena participación y han luchado hasta el segundo final”, mencionó el Coach Gabriel Aramburú.
Este séptimo lugar, le dan la oportunidad a los junior de ser parte del China Cup del próximo año del cual irán los ocho mejores del ranking de este Mundial para un evento todo pagado. Este año fueron los Opens tras obtener el 5to lugar en el 2011 en Panamá quienes con mucha entrega consiguieron el tercer puesto. El próximo año será turno de los juniors y buscarán, nuevamente, el pódium.

About the International Surfing Association
The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the World Governing Authority for Surfing. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running Open Division World Championships since 1964, Junior World Championships since 1980, and Masters World Championships since 2007. The ISA also sanctions the World Kneeboard Titles and the Tandem Surfing World Title, and held the first stand-alone World Bodyboard Championship in 2011, and the first World StandUp Paddle (SUP) and Paddleboard Championship in 2012.
ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies of 70 countries on five continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is presided over by Fernando Aguerre (Argentina), first elected President in 1994 in Rio de Janeiro and re-elected seven times since.
