Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 October, 2006 : - - In an effort to protect six of the United States’ most beloved surf spots, Vans has teamed with Surfing Magazine to produce the Surfrider Foundation Era Collection. Vans is donating 10,000 dollars—including five dollars from each shoe sale—to the Surfrider Foundation. The shoes feature famous images of Huntington Beach, Steamer Lane, Blacks, Off The Wall, Long Island, and Sebastian Inlet, and hit retail June 1.

“Every season we’re going to have a collaboration that gives something back to surfing,” says Vans Senior Director Of Marketing Doug Paladini. “For the first one, we did a series of six shoes. Each one features a famous wave in the United States.

The proceeds will go directly to protect the wave on the shoe because the money is going to be divvied up among those (Surfrider) chapters. So if you’re a surfer at Sebastian inlet, you can buy the (Sebastian Inlet) shoe and it will support the chapter of the Surfrider Foundation that protects the waves in that hood. The same thing goes for each of the waves.”
