Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau in Holding Pattern
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 23 December, 2008 : - - Waimea Bay -- While the ASP World Tour and ASP Women’s World Tours have both culminated for 2008, the Hawaiian action is far from finished.
The infamous Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau Invitational (an ASP Specialty event) only runs when the conditions reach 25’ (Hawaiian kids...look out) and is one of the most exciting shows on Earth...when it runs. With a waiting period that runs from November 30, 2008 to February 29, 2008, the best surfers are on call for when the surf gets serious. Here...is the latet update...
Following an intensely active start to the winter surf season, with four weeks of back-to-back swells in the 10-18 foot (Hawaiian scale) range, the North Shore of Oahu will catch its breath in the coming week with no significant swell episodes forecast for the period.
Early forecasts for the week point towards fun-sized surf in the 4-6 foot (Hawaiian scale) range. Historically, the largest months for surf along the North Shore are January and February. Given the hyper-activity so far this winter, potential for "Eddie"-sized swell looks very promising.
