Airwalk and Surfrider partner to sponsor beach cleanup

Environment News
Airwalk's Anastasia Ashley gets deeply involved
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 December, 2009 : - - Englewood, Co -- Airwalk, the Colorado-based leading global youth lifestyle brand, will sponsor a beach clean-up event in conjunction with the Oahu chapter of The Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches, on Saturday, December 5th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Sunset Beach Park. Airwalk pro surfer Anastasia Ashley will participate in the clean-up effort and speak on environmental threats affecting our beaches and oceans.
In addition to cleaning up Oahu’s North Shore, Airwalk and Ashley will give away her exclusive Airwalk signature shoe to the first 25 attendees. The Airwalk shoe was designed by Anastasia herself, in a style which she describes as “surfer-Barbie meets rock-and-roll bohemian.” Free Airwalk T-shirts will also be on hand for participants, while supplies last. Lunch will be provided by Airwalk, during which Ashley will facilitate a discussion on environmental threats and conduct an interactive Q&A with participants.
“It’s great to be able to give back to a cause with which I’m closely aligned with,” Ashley said. “I think people often take Hawaii’s beauty for granted, but the environment here requires just as much care as any other beach. I’m looking forward to meeting the clean-up participants and learning from them as well.”
“Anastasia has not only proven herself as a driven athlete but she also finds time to support great causes like The Surfrider Foundation.” said Eric Dreyer, Vice President of Brand Management at Collective Licensing International. “We are very proud to support Anastasia and the Surfrider Foundation in their collaborative effort to clean up Oahu’s Sunset Beach.”
