Jeremy Crandall died after saving struggling swimmers

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 4 June, 2010 : - - Jacksonville, North Carolina -- The Emerald Isle community said goodbye to the local surfer who drowned Sunday trying to save struggling swimmers in strong currents. Jeremy Crandall, 31, died after giving his surfboard to a father and son.

He was laid to rest at Centerview Baptist Church in Jacksonville Friday night. He leaves behind a fiancé and two young children. His family says they weren't surprised by Crandall's actions... "But he was no different that anybody else, said James Carpenter,” Crandall’s brother. “It was just he made a choice to make that we all would have done as a family. It's what we taught me, it's what my brother taught him."
