Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 4 June, 2010 : - - Jacksonville, North Carolina -- The Emerald Isle community said goodbye to the local surfer who drowned Sunday trying to save struggling swimmers in strong currents. Jeremy Crandall, 31, died after giving his surfboard to a father and son.

"But he was no different that anybody else, said James Carpenter,” Crandall’s brother. “It was just he made a choice to make that we all would have done as a family. It's what we taught me, it's what my brother taught him."
