"The Jay at Maverick's Big Wave Invitational" Organizers Announce Contest Viewing
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 7 January, 2011 : - - Half Moon Bay -- The HMB Surf Group Inc., which consists of a group of Maverick's competitors, community members, long-time event coordinators and sponsors, today finalized a number of key logistics for the planned The Jay at Maverick's Big Wave Invitational including a number of local viewing locations for spectators, as well as parking logistics.
The Fox Theatre in Redwood City will be the premiere viewing location for The Jay at Maverick's. Located in the heart of downtown Redwood City, the theatre can host more than 1,500 spectators who will view a live-feed of the contest on one massive 20-by-40-foot stage size screen, giving them a prime vantage point for all of the surf action.
In addition, The Jay at Maverick's Big Wave Invitational's main sponsor, Barracuda Networks has also signed on as the presenting sponsor for the Fox Theatre's 2011 show season. Tickets are available now and can be purchased via the Fox Theatre Web site: tickets.foxrwc.com.
"We are excited to host surfing fans from all over the world at the newly renovated Fox Theatre, and just like the fans, our fingers are crossed that Mother Nature delivers some mammoth waves in the next two months," said Eric Lochtefeld, owner of the Fox Theatre. Adult spectators will also have the option to view the contest in Club Fox, a bar located adjacent to the theatre that includes seven 50-inch and one 100-inch screens.
The Oceano Hotel & Spa in Half Moon Bay will host a special VIP viewing party for a limited number of guests. Interested spectators should contact the Oceano Hotel at 650.726.5400 or 1.888.OCEANO.1 and mention "The Jay VIP" for information on ticket prices.
The Wipeout Bar and Grill located at Pier 39 in San Francisco, will also run a live feed of the contest to spectators and bar patrons throughout the day of the contest. Reminiscent of the classic beach restaurants and "surf shacks" that dot the California coast, Wipeout Bar & Grill is the Bay Area's popular surfing restaurant, featuring a wide-open patio and outdoor bar, roaring fire pit, celebrity-signed surfboards and world-famous beach signs. For more information on viewing at this location, call 415-986-5966.
A full state-of-the-art live HD Webcast will be made available on The Jay at Maverick's Web site, ITV360 and on the Roku device for subscribers. In addition, all local Princeton-by-the-Sea area bars and restaurants are being offered a free license to rebroadcast the Webcast. Interested venues can contact email@example.com for more information on this offering.
In addition, city officials will close the beach and surrounding bluff areas to the public. There will not be any free parking available in the surrounding areas and contest organizers are not providing parking shuttles.
