New Zealand Surfing Mag airs latest issue
Piha, Alex Dive, The 50th National Surfing Championships and scores more...
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 March, 2012 : - - Welcome to the March/April issue of NZ Surf mag; filling up the gas tanks we headed to the northern regions for this issue. In a summer that seems to break records for all the wrong reasons, hunting down waves proved testing at times, however we sat out the flat spells and filled in those days taking in what other activities all these regions can offer and when the swells finally showed we were pumped and ready with a cast of talented visiting and local surfers.
Whangamata's Matty Scorringe takes the highly sought after spot on the cover completing his return from two years of fighting a life threatening illness to return to prime form, and along with bagging the face of the mag he made the final at the recent Billabong Pro at his home break, also featured in the mag.
Several other features that grace the 100 page magazine are.
Moods of Piha- Piha is the birthplace of surfboard riding in NZ and also the main beach for surfers of our biggest city, Auckland. We spend a day from dawn till dusk and catch the action as the day unfolds.
Adventures of Magnet Man- Starring Alex Dive and several of his wave starved mates, who barely manage to catch a wave after a torturous hike into an East Coast secret.
Under the Influence- We investigate what influenced some of our top surfers to become who they are today.
The 50th National Surfing Championships- For half a century now our country's surfers have battled it out at the National Champs to crown the best in the business, in 2012 the battlefield was Piha.
Plus much much more including:
The 70th Primo Roady- Postcards from Northland, we camp out, catch fish and take in the sights and waves of the Winterless North.
Plus much more goodness including the winter wetsuit guide, epic sequences, and the latest news from around the traps. Get it at a good bookstore, gas station, supermarket, surf shop or a newsagent near you.
