Registrations closing for Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior 

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 11 April, 2012 : - - Registrations for the Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior, an ASP Europe 3-Star Men’s Junior event, will close in 6-days. It will be the only 3-Star rated event in this year’s Pro Junior series and therefore count the most towards the European title and qualification for the World Junior Tour.

The Top European Junior Title contenders have already entered the event that will run from May 16-20 at the incredible venue of La Cicer in Gran Canaria, Canary Islands. With only a few days left to enter we invite all European Juniors to join the crowd of eager surfers ! Rob Gunning, ASP Europe’s Tour Manager has seen the evolution of this event into a major step on the European calendar.

«This year’s Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior has once again obtained a great amount of interest from our junior members. A regular on our schedule over many years this event is developing into one of our most important events of the season and the number of entries so far is very promising with all our top juniors readying themselves for the trip out to the Canary Islands.» Said Rob.
 
With a total of five events in 2012 counting towards the crowning of the next European Junior Champion, and only one rated 3-Star event in Gran Canaria, this event is on the forefront of the Title race for all the up-and-coming talents Europe has to offer. Rob Gunning in charge of the official results and ratings within ASP Europe confirms the importance of the 3-Star status.
 
«The Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior has a huge impact on the men’s Pro Junior rankings for 2012 and for the qualification to the ASP World Junior Championships. This is our highest rated event of the year and as a 3-Star there are massive amounts of points on offer. The results from this event will play an influential role in the overall final standings for 2012».
 
The European Pro Junior Tour has always been an important tool for developing young talents into professional athletes and this new generation is no different. With only three men and two women already representing Europe on the World Championship Tours, the door is wide open to more future qualifyers emerging from the Junior series.
 
«The level of surfing in Pro Junior events is increasing year to year as the under-21 surfers use the series to show case their talent and gain valuable competitive experience. In only 6-days the registrations will close for the Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior, and spots are still available for surfers to enter the event and keep their seeding points from the 2011 season. The 2012 Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior will run from May 16-20 at La Cicer, Gran Canaria / Canary Islands.
