Tropical Storm Beryl make landfall near Jacksonville Beach

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 May, 2012 : - - Tropical Storm Beryl made landfall near Jacksonville Beach, Florida at 00h10 EDT Monday. Maximum sustained winds were at 70 mph, just 4 mph short of hurricane strength. No additional strengthening is forecast before Beryl reaches land. Storm surge of 2 to 4 feet is possible along the Georgia and northeast Florida coast with 1 to 2 feet possible in southern South Carolina.

A tropical storm warning extends from Edisto Island., South Carolina to the Volusia/Brevard County line, Florida. Rainfall may locally top 6 inches in southeast Georgia and the northern Florida Peninsula, causing some flash flooding. Rip currents and dangerous surf conditions continue along the Southeast beaches Monday and could last into Wednesday.

Beryl is forecast to weaken over northeast Florida and southeast Georgia Monday and Tuesday and move northeast along the Carolina coast Wednesday and out to sea Thursday.

Tropical Storm Sanvu Continues to Weaken and Move Away

As of Sunday late morning, EDT, Tropical Storm Sanvu (03W) was located near 28.0 degrees north, 147.2 degrees east, or about 320 miles east of Chichi Jima, Japan. Maximum sustained winds were 50 mph with gusts to 65 mph with movement to the east-northeast at 17 mph. Sanvu is expected to further weaken over the next few days as it continues to move to the northeast.
