Dylan Goodale Soars and Kyla Langen Rips to victory at the Bud Light Lime Surf Series Oceanside Invitational

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 4 June, 2012 : - - Although Torrey Meister netted a perfect 10 with a corrupt air followed by two big maneuvers, Dylan Goodale’s aerial attacked pushed him ahead of Nathaniel Curran, Meister and Bobby Martinez in the Men’s finals of the Bud Light Lime Surf Series Oceanside Invitational.

Three different surfers traded the lead in a 10-minute span, but Goodale combined airs with slashing turns to generate a two wave total of 18.13 garnering him first place, the “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner” Trophy and $5,000 prize. “I am really grateful to get invited to this event. This was the best contest I have ever been a part of and to win with all the talent that was here makes it pretty special for me” said the 21-year old Hawaiian.

With a large contingent cheering from the beach, Carlsbad’s Kyla Langen overtook leader Keala Kennelly late in the women’s final heat with an 8.83 ride edging out Kennelly, 4-time world champ Lisa Andersen and Kim Mayer. Langen has made the finals of the BLLSS 3-times and the Oceanside event marks her first win. “To win this contest is amazing, but to do it in front of friends and family is really gratifying” said Langen.

The Bud Light Lime Surf Series will travel to Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, North Carolina for its next event over Labor Day Weekend. Visiting the East Coast for the first time, the BLLSS will again integrate a diverse group of contest pros, legends, local pros and photo/video stars who vie for more than $125,000 in total series prize purse. The Bud Light Lime Surf Series is owned and operated by IMG.

About Bud Light Lime Surf Series: Launched in 2011 and inspired by the Bud Tour of the 1990s, the Bud Light Lime Surf Series is owned and managed by  IMG. With an unorthodox format – developed by Contest Director Benji Weatherley - the BLLSS takes a unique approach to the “professional” surf contest with an equal focus on competition, athlete/spectator experience and providing a relaxed atmosphere. Each participant surfs at least twice before cuts are made. Additionally, each surfer’s top-two wave scores are counted regardless of which heat they competed in during the round, allowing them to focus on bettering their own scores as opposed to competing directly against one another.
