Second event of series will help determine team spots and crown champs

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 15 June, 2012 : - - Sunshine Coast, Queensland -- The 2012 Queensland Masters & Women’s Surfing Series concludes this weekend on the Sunshine Coast, with up to 80 of Queensland's best male masters and female competitors vying for final ratings points in their 2012 State Title campaign. The two-event, Queensland Masters & Women’s Surfing Series will conclude on the Sunshine Coast, ultimately determining the 2012 Queensland Masters & Women’s State Champions and Queensland Surfing Team.

The series is also the exclusive qualification pathway to the 2012 Australian SurfMasters Titles, where Queensland competitors will compete for the chance to become an Australian Surfing Champion in their respective divisions. The winner of the Open Women’s division across the two-event series will also earn the right to compete in the Trials of the 2013 Association of Surfing Professionals Roxy Pro – Gold Coast.

Surfing Queensland Events Manager Adam Yates is optimistic about this weekend’s conditions despite a large swell still lashing South East Queensland beaches.  “The swell seems to be dropping now and there a plenty of protected pockets across the Sunshine Coast, so hopefully there’s some great waves for the conclusion of this year’s series,” said Yates.

XXXX Summer Bright Lager will also be providing four cartons of their refreshing drop for the ‘Wave of the Weekend’ – awarded to the Masters competitor who registers the highest individual wave score (out of a possible 10 points) throughout the two-day event. As per the 2012 Surfing Australia Rule Book, allocations for the 2012 Australian Surf Masters Titles are as follows:

O/35 Men – Four 
O/40 Men – Four
O/45 Men – Four
O/50 Men – Four
O/55 Men – Two
Open Women – Four
Over 35 Women - Two
