Nick Ryan takes out Men's State Title by winning event #2 in series

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 June, 2012 : - - Sunshine Coast, Queensland -- Queensland's best Masters and Open Women surfers were decided on the Sunshine Coast today, with the state’s top male and female shortboarders doing battle in clean one-metre waves at Coolum Beach. Kyle Robinson (Burleigh Heads, Qld) captured the 2012 blue ribbon Queensland O/35 Men’s division with a second place finish at today’s second event of the Queensland Masters & Women’s Surfing Series.

Matt Clark (Maroochydore, Qld) outpointed Robinson 12.33 points to 12.07 in today’s final, with Shane Jefferson (Doonan, Qld – 10.03) and Craig Warren (Elanora, Qld – 7.40) finishing third and fourth respectively. “I’m stoked to win the O/35 Men’s State Title. I actually turned 40-years-old on Saturday, so it’s definitely time to celebrate,” said Robinson

“It looks like we’ll have a really strong Queensland team across all the divisions too, so I’m really looking forward to heading down to Port Macquarie and competing in the Australian Titles in August,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the Open Women’s Division, Codie Klein (Kingscliff, NSW) once again came out on top in her division’s final, backing up her win in event one with another dominant performance today. In the process, Klein secures the coveted spot in the 2013 Association of Surfing Professionals Roxy Pro Trials at Snapper Rocks.

Klein posted a combined two-wave heat total of 15.24 (out of a possible 20) to topple Brodie Doyle (Coolangatta, Qld- 8.77), Angie Koops (Palm Beach, Qld- 5.00) and Brittany Nicholl (Kirra, Qld – 4.33) who finished second to fourth respectively.  Nick Ryan (Miami, Qld) secured the 2012 State Title in the O/45 Men’s division as well as the highly sought after XXXX Summer Bright Lager ‘Wave of the Weekend.’

Ryan walked away with four cartons of XXXX Summer Bright Lager after registering the event’s highest single wave score of 9.17 (out of a possible 10 points) across the two-day competition.
