Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 June, 2012 : - - SurfBodySoul has one fundamental purpose: to encourage and facilitate surfers from all walks of life to enjoy the beautiful act of wave riding in its purest sense, for as long as they can, without the barriers of stiffness, weakness and pain limiting their stoke and ability to enjoy the ocean.

Launched in September 2011 Surf/Body\Soul  is a website that sells downloadable safe, effective, holistic and scientific exercise programs which enable our customers to simply surf better, with more fluidity, flexibility and balance whilst avoiding injuries. We work with a diverse range of surf professionals such as Fergal Smith, Rusty Miller, Paige Hareb & Chippa Wilson to test, tweak and improve our programs. In short, we sell training programs to nourish the  surfers mind, body & soul.

The Combination Pack Program info
— The Beginner program gives you an ideal starting point to safely and effectively build your core strength, increase flexibility and begin to strengthen surf specific muscles to take your surfing to a higher and more enjoyable level. The Intermediate program incorporates dynamic, progressive and challenging Yoga, Pilates and Surf Specific exercises to your program. This will advance your core strength and core stability, increase flexibility to specific surfing muscles and create explosive strength to regions of the body that will sky rocket your surfing performance and enjoyment to a higher level. The Advanced program progresses from the Intermediate one to provide highly challenging Yoga, Pilates and surf specific exercises. The Yoga sequences are advanced giving you even more flexibility and looseness in your surfing. The Pilates core strength exercises will give you greater stability and control in your surfing. Our surf conditioning exercises are even more specific and challenging and build from our previous programs to give you enhanced speed and power in all your surfing turns.

It is recommended that you complete the programs in sequence for 8+ weeks each a minimum of 2 times per week for great results and 3-5 times per week for excellent results.

 

 

 

 

The Story
— Founded by two traveling surfers, from opposite sides of the world and with completely different surfing backgrounds and abilities, we met whilst surfing in Morocco where Ryan treated Ed’s long-running lower back problem. A few more surf trips down the line, taking in Morocco, Portugal, Kerala & The Andamans and Surf/Body\Soul was born We share a passion for surfing and it’s inherent benefits for our mind, body and soul.

—  Ryan Huxley (Australia):
Ryan Huxley is a university qualified Physiotherapist and Strength & Conditioning Coach, Level 2 Hatha Yoga Instructor and Pilates Instructor from Australia. Through a desire to improve his own surfing performance Ryan has researched and developed a unique blend of Yoga, Pilates and surf specific strength and conditioning exercises to enhance functional strength, flexibility, fitness and conditioning for surfing. Ryan lives and runs SurfBodySoul from the Byron Bay Studio in Australia. Here he works with surfers of all ages and skill level conducting surf exercise sessions and workouts and prescribes personalized surf fitness programs  to the surf community.

Ed Templeton (UK) :
Ed Templeton cites a serious back injury as the catalyst for change. Prior to the injury he was desk-bound running a successful design agency in Brighton, UK. Whilst recovering from the injury with Ryan’s professional help, the important things in life came to the forefront and a life change ensued. He gave up his house and business in the UK and travelled the world surfing. He now divides his time betyween his pioneering Indian Surf & Yoga retreat - soulandsurf.com - in Kerala and his home on the south coast of England whilst running the online wing of SurfBodySoul.
