Event will conclude the three-day Surfing Queensland SUP & Ocean Paddle Festival

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 July, 2012 : - -  After being postponed last month due to a huge swell lashing Gold Coast beaches, the 2012 Queensland SUP Surfing Titles presented by Surftech is all set for this weekend. The event will finally conclude the three-day Surfing Queensland SUP & Ocean Paddle Festival presented by Surftech and finalise the Queensland SUP Surfing team, which will travel to Port Macquarie, NSW, next month for the Australian SUP Titles.

The Surfing Queensland SUP & Paddle Festival presented by Surftech provides the exclusive qualification pathway for Queensland athletes aiming to compete at the 2012 Australian SUP Titles at Port Macquarie, NSW in August and subsequently the 2013 International Surfing Association (ISA) Paddleboard and SUP World Championships.

The Pathway:
1. 2012 Surfing Queensland SUP & Ocean Paddle Festival presented by Surftech
2. 2012 Australian SUP Titles
3. 2013 International Surfing Association Paddleboard & SUP World Championships

Saturday July 7- Queensland SUP Surfing Titles

The 2012 Queensland SUP Surfing Titles will see competitors do battle for selection into the state SUP Surfing Team set to compete at the Australian SUP Titles in August. Location: TBA (mobile depending on conditions. For competition start times/location, competitors and spectators can call the Surfing Queensland Events Hotline after 6:30 each morning of the event - Ph# (07) 3030 6388)

Divisions: (must be a Surfing Queensland Member)
Open Men - Top four qualify for Queensland SUP Team
Open Women - Top two qualify for Queensland SUP Team
O/40 Mixed - Top two qualify for Queensland SUP Team

Please Note: If an interstate competitor is a current financial member of an affiliated state branch i.e Surfing NSW, VIC, SA, WA, TAS they do not need to become a Surfing Queensland member to compete in a 'State Qualification' division. These competitors are welcome to compete in the Surfing Queensland SUP & Ocean Paddle Festival (both State Qualification and non-State Qualification divisions); however they will not be eligible to represent Queensland at the subsequent Australian Titles.

Queensland competitors aiming to represent the state at the 2012 Australian SUP Titles must be a current financial member of Surfing Queensland prior to competing in any State Qualification SUP division. The Surfing Queensland SUP & Ocean Paddle Festival presented by Surftech is proudly supported by SurfTech, Xcel, Gold Coast City Council, Surfing Queensland XXXX Summer Bright Lager and Australia’s Surfing Life.
