Matty Scorringe in Java, through-the-night road trip, the 'would you rather' game and more

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 July, 2012 : - - Welcome to the July/August instalment of New Zealand Surfing Magazine. For 27 years we have been bringing you the best waves, new places and new faces that our country has to offer and long shall this continue.

In this issue we feature:

Cover Boy- On this issues trip into the dark depths of Java Matty Scorringe was on fire, he laid the biggest turns, stomped the biggest airs and ran the gauntlet through the deepest barrels, the selection of pics Matty handed us from this trip could have landed him six different covers. A big congrats Matty it is our pleasure to reward you for such a fine effort.

The 72nd Primo Roady- A through the night 11 hour roady takes us to the Far North where we team up with a local Big wave tow crew to lay a 25 year old mythical tale to rest.

Would You Rather- Ever played the game 'What would you rather' ? Well after an epic run of waves, the first in some time for the Bay Of Plenty region, we put it to a few of the surfers present, and the answers are interesting.

The Coast Of Faces - In what could almost be described as a Hollywood blockbuster cast We journey to the dark side of Java along with a descendant of the Prime family Mazrilious 'In my Prime' Quinn, who is joined by a UN Peacekeeper Sam Willis, Matty 'The Scozza Identity' Scorringe and the Skipper of the Andrea Gail Clint Reid who returned from the Perfect Storm to hand out a lesson in tube riding. We stumbled upon a village set back in time that just so happened to have two epic waves on its front door, one of the all-time trips.

The Collection: Photographic delights to celebrate aquatic athletic excellence.

King Of The Groms- The Quiksilver Maz Quinn KOG scores all time surf again, this time being contested at a venue that hasn't seen action for 21 years.

Rising Grom- Girl power is at it's most powerful of all time, Jasmine Smith our first female rising grom in some time, could show the lads a thing or two.
