Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 11 July, 2012 : - - Toes on the Nose team rider, Steven McLean, took the 2012 NSSA Open and Explorer Longboard titles at the National Scholastic Surfing Association event held in Huntington Beach. Amidst fierce competition from other surfers Mclean’s exceptional skills brought in major points which helped him take home the 2012 Open Longboard title. This is the second year in a row the 17-year-old surfer has earned this title.

“I have competed against some of the best longboarders in the world in the past year and everything I take from watching them surf and compete I used in Nationals,” said McLean. “My next step is definitely to continue to do well in ASP events and make the World Longboard Tour.”

Mclean, a Florida native, took his competitive nature to the surf scene when he entered his first competition at the age of 12. McLean is no stranger to the NSSA Championships; he first qualified when he was just 15 years old.
