Josh Kerr Teams up with dimpled technology fin system
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 August, 2012 : - - Arial innovator and 2012 world championship contender Josh Kerr has teamed up with new Australian fin company 3DFins to launch their inaugural fin series The “Moonrakerr”. Featuring unique “Dimple” technology similar to that which revolutionised golf ball performance both in distance and in speed, The Moonrakerr fin has been proven through rigorous CFD (Computational Flow Dynamic) testing to provide significantly less drag and more lift. The Moonrakerr will be Josh’s signature model and is bound to attract a lot of attention this coming summer.
“We are extremely excited and honoured to have Josh join us as our marque athlete. Josh represents everything that 3DFINS stands for and believes in” said Tom Wilson, CEO of 3DFins. “His new school approach to surfing and his hunger to achieve advanced performance out of his equipment perfectly reflects what 3DFins wants to achieve. It’s a match made in surfing heaven”.
Currently sitting at number 7 on the World Championship Tour (WCT) Josh has completely re written the rule book when it comes to competitive surfing and has become the #1 advisor to the WCT judging panel with regards to above the lip manoeuvres. “When I was first approached by the lads at 3DFins and saw the kind of designs and concepts they had been developing I knew straight away that this was exactly what I’d been looking for. I really want to help take surfing to the next level and I believe that together with the 3D crew we can definitely make this happen.”
Josh is currently competing in The Billabong Pro at Teahupoo in Tahiti.
The Josh Kerr MOONRAKERR series will be available internationally from this September.
3DFINS is based in Perth, Western Australia. It is a company that believes in utilising advanced hydrodynamic and aerodynamic technologies coupled with innovative materials that offer superior performance but are at the same time environmentally friendly. Designer and founder Courtney Potter lives and works in Margaret River where he is constantly researching and developing new and innovative fin designs. 3DFINS will be taking part in the 2012 West Australian Innovator of the year awards with winners announced in November this year.
