Daisy battling cancer for the third time

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 September, 2012 : - - The national Paddle for Daisy took place in 36 different locations to support Al Merrick's eight year old granddaughter, Daisy Love Merrick, who is battling cancer for the third time. The family is currently in Israel seeking treatment for her and the goal of this paddle-a-thon is to fundraise for medical bills that are estimated to be $500,000 not covered by insurance.

At El Porto it was a beautiful day and although we were all worried about the swell, conditions calmed down just for our paddle and we are all extremely thankful. Touching update that Mark Chu (Christian Surfers South Bay Director) mentioned in his intro this morning was that when Daisy's parents asked her why she was kissing a globe while spinning it, she replied, "I'm thanking everyone who is praying for me around the world."

We thank the surf community and friends of the media who have been so incredibly supportive with this Paddle for Daisy.
