Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 September, 2012 : - - The ASP Europe 6-Star Event EDP Surf Pro Estoril 2012 presented by Billabong returns in 2012 to Praia de Carcavelos, Cascais, Portugal, running from September 21-23. The Portuguese event has been a regular stop on the European leg of the ASP World Tour since 2008. A move in dates from July to an improved swell window will now make it an even more popular stop for the world’s best women surfers.
 
"Our partners Cascais City Hall and Turismo Estoril are happy to be hosting an ASP Women's 6 star event," said event organizer, Cascais local and former top competitor Joana Rocha. Rocha, who along with her sister Rita, runs the company Rocksisters also said, “It is the biggest surf event in the municipality of Cascais and we are very proud to have organized this event since 2008.”

Forecast analytics show that September is the perfect time of year to run the event with a swell consistency of 78% and an average wave size of two metres. Winds are also very favorable with the dominant northeast winds blowing offshore throughout the early Autumn season.
 
Rocha, who has been a regular European Top 10 finisher on the ASP rankings, has taken on a lead role in the development of women's surfing in Portugal. Apart from attracting the world’s best female surfers to the world class waves of Praia de Carcavelos, the Event EDP SURF PRO ESTORIL 12 presented by Billabong will no doubt help to raise the standard of Portuguese women’s surfing up to an international level.
 
The 6 star professional competition is also just one of many great events to be held over the weekend. The Women's Surfing Trophy, a team competition with modified rules for non-professionals is expected to attract a high number of female participants.
