Tough call to postpone the 20th Jesus Surf Classic, re-scheduled dates 13th-14th October 2012
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 September, 2012 : - - Christian Surfers UK organising team have been looking at the swell charts for the last week or so for this weekend's 20th anniversary Jesus Surf Classic. After much deliberation and advice as well as prayers they have decided to postpone the event from this weekend ( Sep 8th-9th ) until the weekend of October 13th - 14th.
They believe there will be no real contestable surf on Saturday, and at best perhaps the chance of finishing a couple of categories on Sunday, however they want to make the 20th ‘Jesus’, a celebration, and make sure everybody had the opportunity to feel part of this event, and to be able to surf in contestable conditions throughout. They believe this would not be the case this weekend, with over 100 entrants, in 8 categories.
If you have booked camping or caravans at Ruda/Parkdean, the holiday park have kindly agreed to honour that, and change your booking to the October date, if you ring them directly in the next 24 hours.
However on Saturday night ( 8th Sep ) at Croyde village hall starting at 7.30pm, the charity fundraiser ‘Soul Music’ will still go ahead, with live music, to raise funds for ‘Paul's place’ a fantastic local charity providing a break for young adults experiencing bereavement, a life threatening illness, or being a carer. Please try and support this great cause. For more details go to pauls-fund.co.uk
Christian Surfers plan to hold the October event with the full infrastructure, Marquee and skate Park, and one or two other surprises that we have been working on.

The week before the Jesus Surf Classic Christian Surfers, will also be holding the Jesus Longboard classic at Polzeath, where there will be premiering the European showing of a new longboard surf movie called ‘Flux’ from an Australian filmmaker Andrew Carruthers. It looks like being a bit of a festival week, with a number of events taking place. Watch this space for more details.
Thanks again for your understanding, as you can appreciate this was not an easy call, but we wanted the surfers, to have the best possible opportunity to compete in quality surf for the duration of this anniversary 20th event.
