Burleigh Longboard Club claims coveted tag-team title
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 September, 2012 : - - Despite a gallant effort from the Gold Coast’s Burleigh Longboard Club at Coolum Beach, the Sunshine Coast’s consistency sees them take a commanding lead into the final day of the 2012 World Surfaris Coast-of-Origin Interclub Series State Challenge.
Burleigh Longboard Club (64 points) claimed the coveted tag-team title and topped the overall Longboard standings, however, the consistency of North Shore Boardriders (59 points), Noosa Malibu Club (25 points), Caloundra Malibu Club (23 points), and Sunshine Coast SUP Longboard (22 points) proved too strong in the end, handing the overall title of World Surfaris Coast-of-Origin Interclub Series Longboard Champions to the Sunshine Coast.
Every Sunshine Coast Longboard State Challenge competitor pockets $50 each for their respective club, winning the Sunshine Coast Longboard vs. Gold Coast Longboard competition. In the stand-up-paddleboard (SUP) component of the competition, Sunshine Coast SUP Club outpointed the Gold Coast’s SUPSA Club (46-26), handing the overall title of World Surfaris Coast-of-Origin Interclub Series SUP Champions to the Sunshine Coast.

The seven-event World Surfaris Coast-of-Origin Interclub Series sees surfers of all disciplines (Shortboard, Longboard and Stand Up Paddleboard) and ages, represent their respective Boardriding Clubs, their region and ultimately their ‘Coast’ – uniting Queensland’s grass-roots surfing community in an amazing interclub competition.
