British Longboard Event #4

Gwithian, Cornwall England
22 September 2012

Event is the final round of the 2012 British Longboard Union British Longboard National Champs

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 24 September, 2012 : - - The final round of the 2012 Longboard Championship series was held at Gwithian 22nd September. A chilly but sunny start to the day saw clean waist high surf brushed by gentle offshores as the tide came in below the Gwithian car park cliffs. A quick and on time start to the competition saw the younger divisions in the water first. However, after the tide started to drop back, so did the surf until low tide mid afternoon  saw sets that were barely contestable, but with good scores being achieved.

Special mention should go to Emily Currie of North Devon who raced back and forward to Newquay to enter both this contest and the Fat Face short board contest where, at the time of writing, successfully got the final in that division. The contest was finally called off leaving the final of the Open unresolved following the heavyweight Grand Masters division standing waist deep in water waiting for anything to push into. The intention is to run the final, possibly alongside the forthcoming ETL event at Watergate on the weekend of the 29th-30th September.
