Globe celebrates 10 years of Halo with commemorative cruiser skateboard & shoes
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 11 October, 2012 : - - Globe announced the release of its first collaboration with “HALO”, the science fiction video game franchise developed by 343 Industries. The product collaboration, which commemorates 10 years of HALO, includes HALO inspired shoes and a cruiser skateboard. These collaborative products do not only commemorate the ten-year anniversary of HALO and all it means to its legion of fans, but also celebrates the highly anticipated release of the newest installment HALO 4 out November 6th, 2012.
“The tremendous global popularity of the Halo brand makes this project a very exciting one for GLOBE,” says GLOBE’s President of Global Product, Matt Wong. “We are stoked about the release of the Halo cruiser and shoes and looking forward to announcing more co-branded products in the coming seasons as part of our ongoing collaboration with Halo.” The shoes and the cruiser incorporate HALO themed details throughout. The shoe comes in “Master Chief” green with the number “117″ etched into the side, representing Master Chief Petty Officer-John 117’s service number. In addition, it includes UNSC [United Nation Space Command] logo branding on the tongue and the heel.
The highly detailed cruiser was designed by gamers who spent their college years engrossed in the highly addictive FPS. It features a commemorative “Master Chief” bottom graphic back on the Pillar of Autumn where it all began, along with a unique “10-Year-Anniversary” metal badge applied just above the back truck. Designers kept HALO branding and themes consistent on all components and hardware including inverted, hand painted trucks in a distressed military-inspired finish reflecting the protagonist uniform colors of the UNSC, 76 millimeter cruiser wheels inspired by the franchise’s most favored vehicle, the Warthog in addition to unique, die-cut HALO branded grip tape.
“We always take the utmost care selecting partners to work in the HALO universe, but we pay special attention when it’s something as close to our hearts as skateboarding. The detail, attention and passion GLOBE has poured into building and designing this board is a perfect match for the effort and love 343 Industries is putting into the game, and it’s something we’re genuinely excited to get our hands (and feet) on,” says 343 Industries Franchise Development Director Frank O’Connor.
