New app useful for storm tracking & hurricane forecasting

Fantasy Storm Trackers (FST), now available from The App Store, was developed by S4 founders Steve Cruz, John Bianchini and Kevin Barry: a weather pro, an online payment entrepreneur and a data industry specialist.

This diverse trio of entrepreneurs, united by their passion for surfing, initially conceived of the app to help surfers better predict the next swell, but it turned out to be so much more.

Never before has there been a weather app that places the user in the role of forecaster and storm tracker, and the user submitted data can be compiled to create a more accurate predictive model of a dangerous storm’s path. Fantasy Storm Tracker’s interface employs breakthrough technology to deliver an exciting and fun user experience, and users can score points for accurately predicting a storm by placing pins on a digital weather map to forecast or calculate a storm’s potential track.

Players can start or join teams and compete with each other or themselves, and the information they submit helps to create a more accurate database that will aid forecasters to better predict dangerous storms and ultimately save lives.  By using data supplied by the public and private sectors as well as professional weather services, the FST users compile data to find the “mean” or average track of a storm. More players equal more data points and that means a more accurate prediction and life saving possibilities.

This App has it all; a Weather Hub that provides a huge array of atmospheric maps and satellite images, a leader board, individual and team stats and all the reporting tools a user will ever need.  Users can check personal profiles and see where they rank among the global user base and the result is a fun, challenging, globe spanning new app that may just help save a few lives!
