Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 25 October, 2012 : - - It's official! the 9th Annual Kona Surf Film Festival will run on Dec. 7th and 8th, 2012 at the Maunalani Bay Hotel and Bungalows on the Big Island of Hawaii. SEND IN YOUR FILMS!

The Kona Surf Film Festival is a creation of Chad Campbell and his friends & family. Chad, a surfer and filmmaker himself, founded the Festival in 2003 as a means of bringing together Hawaii's surfing family for a communal love of all things surf! The Festival has always been a forum for independent filmmakers to showcase their work to a stoked audience. Additionally, each year the Fest benefits the surfing community on the Big Island and beyond. The Fest has raised money for various organizations including Kulana Huli Honua, the Betty Kanuha Foundation, Protect Kohanaiki Ohana, Seathos, and the Surfrider Foundation. Chad now partners with The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows, who host and help coordinate and the event.

SEND YOUR FILMS IN! DEADLINE IS OCT. 30TH, 2012! WE WILL CONSIDER ANY FILM BASED ON, AROUND, OR SOMEWHERE NEAR THE SPORT/ART/PASTIME OF WAVE RIDING (ALL FORMS INVITED!). SINCE 2003 THE KONA SURF FILM FESTIVAL HAS BEEN AN EXHIBITION OF SURF FILMS FROM AROUND THE WORLD, A BENEFACTOR OF THE BIG ISLAND COMMUNITY AND BEYOND, AND A GRASSROOTS EVENT THAT HAS KEPT THE SURF CINEMA STOKE ALIVE.
