Event to feature films by Chris Malloy & Patrick Trefz

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 November, 2012 : - - On this Friday, November 9, Save The Waves Film Festival continues its California tour by visiting the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz. Last Friday night in Santa Barbara featured the epic launch of Save The Waves Film Festival Tour, with world premieres of documentary films and live music by White Buffalo, Tom Curren, Todd Hannigan and Jon Swift at the historic Arlington Theatre.

This film festival tour features the world premieres of "Groundswell" by director Chris Malloy and "Ode to California" by Santa Cruz lensman Patrick Trefz, with a handful of new short films about surfing and the environment.

Festival doors open and live music starts at 6 PM this Friday at the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz with a live performance by Arann Harris and the Farm Band. This event is open to all, and ocean lovers of all ages are invited to attend. Tickets are available online at savethewaves.org/filmfestival or at the door the night of the event.

Save The Waves Film Festival inhabits a unique niche as an entertaining, thought-provoking and fun one-night film festival that gives back to the ocean environment it loves to celebrate. All event proceeds benefit the environmental programs of Save The Waves Coalition and World Surfing Reserves. This innovative event brings together our singular community of surfers and environmentalists for intimate screenings of surf and ocean-adventure documentary films.
