Greece gets going with Stand Up Paddle Surfing Hellenic Cup

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 November, 2012 : - - The breathtaking scenery of Corinth Isthmus became the backdrop of the Stand Up Paddle Surfing Hellenic Cup 2012 that took place on November 4. The 50 lucky paddlers that had the chance to cross the historic Isthmus with their paddleboards had emerged through a series of other Paddle Surfing races held on Andros Island, Ios Island and Loutsa.

The final winner George Frangos will be Greece’s official participation at an international event that will take place in Paris on December 8 to 16, claiming the title of the top European SUP racer. The Isthmus of Corinth is the narrow land bridge which connects the Peloponnese peninsula with mainland Greece, near the city of Corinth. The word "isthmus" comes from the Ancient Greek word for "neck" and refers to the narrowness of the land.
