Gold Coast's Surf World appoints new patron

Surf World Updates
Joe Larkin Appointed as Surf World Patron
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 November, 2012 : - - Surfing pioneer and shaping legend Joe Larkin was recently appointed as Patron of Surf World. Joe officially opened the museum back in 2009, and has continued to support Surf World in many ways, including being host to a fun roasting from friends and family earlier in the year.
Joe started surfing at age nine, competed in the first surf contest in Australia in 1958, was one of Australia’s earliest surf film makers and opened his legendary Miles Street surfboard operation in Kirra in 1962. Joe influenced a long list of surfers and shapers and sponsored many outstanding Gold Coast surfers including the late Michael Peterson, Andrew McKinnon and Peter Townend. Joe is a genuine legend and we are truly grateful to have him as Patron of the museum.
