New app all about the details of your session

Industry Updates
Glassy.pro tracks your sessions, checks conditions and more
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 November, 2012 : - - Glassy.pro is a free app which provides information on surf conditions, lets you compete against other users worldwide and gives you the opportunity to track and upload your surf sessions, as well as improve your overall surfing performance.
A group of entrepreneurs, led by Mikel Alonso, has just launched Glassy Pro, a project that aspires to be the benchmark app for surfers. As Mikel, an experienced surfer with over 20 years in the water, explains “social networks have always been used to share photos and locations; however, Glassy.pro brings a whole new world of possibilities, including sharing session details and progress and competing against other users around the globe in real time
Glassy.pro aims to become the definitive app for all surf lovers. In order to do this, it offers detailed information on more than 4,000 surf spots worldwide. More are being added daily and in the upcoming months, there will be over 10,000 locations.
Surfers are able to check out a spot-specific surfing forecast, which includes data on wave height and direction, wind speed and direction, wave frequency, times of sunrise/sunset, high/low tides and tidal coefficient. Users can also be notified every time the surf conditions at their favourite spots are not only good, but when they are specifically right for them. Obtaining all the necessary data has taken a lot of time and research. Thanks to Alex Torrentí and his tech team, this data is now presented in a clear and user-friendly way.
Glassy.pro´s current version allows users to locate surfing spots and measure the length of their sessions. Moreover, future versions will make it possible to measure the amount and height of waves surfed. However, innovation does not stop there! The team is currently developing an exclusive piece of hardware which will allow data to be measured without the use of a smartphone. It will send information directly to a server in real time, allowing other users to view all the details of the surf session.
“As soon as the user is out of the water, they can upload information on their surf session and see a history of their previous sessions.” says Torrentí. Session information includes average wave height, wave and weather conditions, other surfers present, type of surfboard used, location of the session and the total number of sessions surfed, among other things.
Glassy Pro´s goal is to create the best application for surfing and the select amount of surfers who have had the opportunity to test it around the globe, are excited as never before. “We want to change the way things are done,” says Mikel Alonso. “Sharing photos is great, but sharing your sessions and progress in the water with your friends, or competing with users worl
dwide in real time is even better.”
Glassy Pro is already available in the Apple App Store.
