The 2013 Quiksilver Rincon Classic gears up for classic day

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 26 November, 2012 : - - The official waiting period begins on Saturday January 5, and extends for a total of eight consecutive weekends waiting for ideal swell and weather conditions. 2013 earmarks the 30th annual event since it's inception in 1979, and the 13th consecutive year produced by Surf Happens. The event brings the best local wave-riders together to celebrate the Santa Barbara surf, sand, and sea, and to compete for pride, division titles, loads of prizes, solar carved Lanikai Ukelele's, Jaya Wave Thrones, and belt buckle trophies.

Online entries will be taken for the event from November 28-December 28, 2012.Entry fees run $75 for regular division entry, $150 for the pro division, and $50 for second division fees. All competitors receive an official 2013 Quiksilver Rincon Classic t-shirt, A Surf Happens reusable bag, Quiksilver or Roxy hat, Teva shoes, lunch each day, free entry into the SIMA Classic Sunday awards ceremony, raffle tickets, and more.Please note you must be a (805) resident. All entries are prioritized by the official Ripple Effect rule with first entry rights given to Carpinteria, Santa Barbara, Ventura and Goleta residents in that order. If there are openings entry spreads out to the surrounding 805.

VIDEO CONTEST
Open November 15-December 28 Submit a 2-5 minute surf video of Rincon by December 28 to win a custom CI surfboard, CASH, tons of prizes, and have your video premier in front of hundreds of people! Videos will be judged by an elite panel of local surfers on the following: originality, story, true to Rincon, and surfing action. The top 5 contestants will have their video play at the Rincon Classic Pre-Party at the Channel Islands retail store in Santa Barbara, and at the SIMA Classic Sunday awards ceremony.
