China, Burleigh, Margarets & Newcastle open for registration

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 December, 2012 : - - The 2012 ASP season wrapped up over the weekend with Coolangatta’s Joel Parkinson claiming his maiden ASP World Title and Pipe Masters crown. Congratulations Parko! ASP Australasia would like to take this opportunity to thanks all of our surfers, media supporters and fans for their support throughout 2012. There are several events in the coming year set to roll as the new year dawns.

HAINAN CLASSIC
The Hainan Classic Men’s 4-Star World Tour event is now open online for entries. The event will take place at Riyuewan Bay, Wanning on Hainan Island in China from January 28 – 30 and will run a max format of 96 surfers. Valuable 4-Star points and a prize money pool of US$95,000 are up for grabs. Entry fees are US$200 and all entries must be in before the closing date January 1st.

BREAKA BURLEIGH PRO
The Breaka Burleigh Pro Men’s 4-Star and Women’s 6-Star event will be held at the iconic point break of Burleigh Heads in Queensland from February 3 – 10. The Men’s event boasts US$95,000 in prize money with the Women’s event holding a prize money purse of US$40,000. The Breaka Burleigh Pro Men’s event will run a format of 160 and the Breaka Burleigh Pro Women’s will run a format of 60 surfers.

BURTON TOYOTA PRO JUNIOR
The Burton Toyota Pro Junior Men’s 2-Star and Burton Toyota Pro Junior Women’s 1-Star events are now open online for entries! The events will take place at Merewether in Newcastle from February 14 – 17. Entry fees are US$120 for men and US$80 for women with a total prize money purse of US$13,000. Entries will close January 15th.

BURTON TOYOTA PRO
The Burton Toyota Pro Men’s 6-Star event will be held at Merewether in Newcastle from February 18 – 24. This historic event will run a format of 144 surfers, and it will also run a 32 man trials on Feb 17th, giving 4 surfers another chance at a start in the main event. US$155,000 prize money is on offer along with valuable ratings points. Entries are US$250 and will close on January 22nd.

HUNTER PORTS WOMENS CLASSIC
The Hunter Ports Women’s Classic 6-Star event will be held at Merewether in Newcastle from February 18 – 24. The event will run a format of 60 surfers, and it will also run a 16 women trials on Feb 17th, giving 2 surfers another chance at getting a start in the main event. US$40,000 prize money is on offer along with valuable ratings points. Entries are US$100 and will close on January 22nd.

DRUG AWARE MARGARET RIVER PRO
The Drug Aware Margaret River Pro PRIME event will be held at Margaret River in Western Australia from March 16 – 24. Entries into this PRIME event are US$325 and the event will run a format on 96 surfers, plus a 32 man trials on March 15th, with the top 4 surfers progressing into the main event. The event boasts maximum points and a prize money purse of US$250,000.

RANGIROA PRO JUNIOR
The Rangiroa Pro Junior Men’s 3-Star event is now open online for entries! The event will take place at Rangiroa in Tahiti from April 1 – 8,and will be followed by the Tahiti Nui Pro Junior. Entries to the Rangiroa Pro junior are US$120 and a total prize money of US$15,000 along with valuable 3-Star Pro Junior rating points are on offer.

TAHITI NUI PRO JUNIOR
The Tahiti Nui Pro Junior Men’s 3-Star event is now open online for entries. The event will take place at Papara in Tahiti from April 10 - 12. Valuable 3-Star Pro Junior points and a prize money purse of US$15,000 are up for grabs. Entry fees are US$120 and all entries must be in before the closing date March 12th.
