Bede Durbidge heads pro surfer camp for Surfing Australia

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 January, 2013 : - - ASP world tour competitor Bede Durbidge loves channelling his inner-grommet and it came out in force this week when he hosted his own Surfing Australia Pro Surfer Camp.

Held at the Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre (HPC) at Casuarina in northern New South Wales, Bede took a group of grommets surfing and sat down with them to analyse their style on video and then talk with them about life as a professional surfer.

“I think I get just as excited as they are sometimes when they watch their surfing on the big video screen,” Bede said. “It’s great to spend time with them and I hope they get inspired to go and surf better after attending the camp.

“They all have big dreams to become professional surfers and it’s clear they want to learn and pick as much information up as they can to become better surfers... The facilities at the HPC are perfect for it. They are second to none and the grommets that come here are pretty lucky.”

Bede’s camp was the third of the Surfing Australia Pro Surfer Camps following camps hosted by Mitch Crews, Owen Wright and Tyler Wright. World No.2 Sally Fitzgibbons will host a camp next week.

The Surfing Australia Pro Surfer Camps are proudly supported by the Australian Sports Commission and Suncorp.
