Cooler weather prevails for second day ot the Teenage Rampage Oz Invitational

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 19 January, 2013 : - - Sydney -- The scorching weather that plagued Sydney yesterday, mellowed for the second day of the Teenage Rampage OZ Invitational presented by Ocean and Earth. The trials for the 20-and-under boys kicked the morning off with some of Australia’s best junior surfers battling it out for a spot in the main event. Harrison Martin and Luca Elder came flying out of the gates in round one, locking in a number of high scoring waves to secure wins.

Jack Duggan was another early standout, linking together a chain of critical moves to take the win and advance to the next round. The semi finals saw two tight battles go down between six surfers. In punchy little peaks all surfers threw down a range of exciting manoeuvres in an attempt to progess through to the final. However, in the end it was Jack Duggan and Luca Elder who snuck ahead in semi one, with Harrison Martin and Sean Mawson advancing from semi two.

The waves continued to roll through consistently in the final with all surfers wowing the judges with their precise and remarkable turns. When the final hooter sounded it was Newport’s Luca Elder who took the top spot with Jack Duggan, Harrison Martin and Sean Mawson finishing in second, third and fourth respectively. All finalists scored themselves a place in main event.

Surfing NSW Head Judge Luke Reading said: “That was a super exciting final. All surfers put on an epic show and it was tough to separate the four of them.”

The surfers who advanced to the main event are as follows:
-       20 and under male – Top eight surfers
-       16 and under boys – Top ten surfers
-       16 and under girls – Top six surfers
-       13 and under boys – Top eight surfers
-       13 and under girls – Main round only
