Wavescape festival gives nod to 'Bending Colours'

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 24 January, 2013 : - - Bending Colours picked up another award recently when it starred at the Wavescape Surf Film Festival in South Africa. The surf film – a Red Bull Media House project directed by Kai Neville and starring South African surf whiz Jordy Smith – won over the Cape Town surf community as well as a judging panel headed up surfing historian and writer Glen Thompson. They eventually gave Blending Colours the award for Best Cinematography.

Praise for the film bordered on the embarrassing with one judge saying, "Bending Colours was a mind-blowing look at the cutting edge of surfing. Jordy is leading the new revolution." Another described it as an, "excellent visual monograph on Jordy – kind of like the Top Gun of surf movies with Jordy as the aerial fighter pilot."

The Wavescape Surf Film Festival, now in its 11th year, features films for, by and featuring surfers.
