Volcom Pipe Pro contest window opens with swell on the way

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 January, 2013 : - - Pipeline, Oahu, Hawaii -- Surfing conditions just weren't up to par at Pipeline this morning and the opening day of the Volcom Pipe Pro has been called a 'Lei day'. With smaller stormy conditions and swell on the way we'll check back in tomorrow, January 28th, at 7:30am (HST)

SWELL ANALYSIS (Brought to you by Surfline.com, the official forecaster of the Volcom Pipe Pro):

The primary focus right now is a large and consistent NW swell (315-335 deg) that will rapidly build into the North Shore on late Sunday night through the AM hours on Monday, peaking mid day through the afternoon with about 12-13'+ deepwater swell at 14-16 seconds.

The storm responsible for delivering this swell recently developed a strong fetch for Hawaii within close proximity (roughly 1000-1500 miles out to the NW-NNW), and is expected to sustain this fetch over the next 12hrs, so stay posted for tomorrow's update to lock this one in. This swell will steadily back down Tuesday through the middle of the week, gradually becoming more manageable into mid week.
