Surfing Queensland’s official travel partner named

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 29 January, 2013 : - - Sunshine Coast, Queensland -- Surfing Queensland announces the World Surfaris’ support for the 'Coast of Origin' series in 2013. World Surfaris contribution to this series is indicative of their commitment to ‘grass roots’ surfing in Queensland.

This year, World Surfaris continues its naming rights sponsorship of the 'Coast of Origin' event and has also bolstered their support of the organisation, coming on board in 2013 as Surfing Queensland’s official travel partner. With a revised format, the 2013 World Surfaris ‘Coast of Origin’ Series is shaping up to be the best yet. Area challenges on both coasts will make way for a more compact series in 2013.

Regional and State Challenges will be delivered by an experienced Surfing Queensland events team, with computer scoring a feature at both tiers. The previously introduced ‘supercharge’ heats will be replaced by a ‘pairs’ format with the added incentive of accumulative prize money at both Regional and State level competitions. The World Surfaris ‘Coast of Origin’ Series 2013 will consist of three core events, including two Regional Challenges and one State Challenge.

Both events have been scheduled in July to capitalise on the consistent winter swell window. The 2013 World Surfaris ‘Coast of Origin’ Series will showcase some of Queensland's most talented surfers as they compete for their region and ‘coast’, in a bid to be crowned the overall champions.

World Surfaris Managing Director Shaun Levings said, “Our brand is stoked to be associated with Surfing Queensland, the ‘Coast of Origin’ Series and of course Club surfers throughout the state. Boardriders Clubs are the heart and soul of Australian surfing and a major reason for Australia being the number-one surfing nation in the world.”

Queensland Boardriders Clubs are considered the ‘backbone’ of surfing in Queensland. Arguably, Clubs’ biggest contribution to the development of surfing is their ongoing commitment to nurturing and supporting burgeoning surfing careers across all areas of the sport. A common denominator that gels Boardriders Clubs together in Queensland is the element of participation and competition.

Following the success of previous year’s ‘Coast of Origin’ Interclub Series, it is evident that this event benchmarks Club competition in Queensland and will be a permanent fixture on Surfing Queensland’s event calendar in years to come.

The World Surfaris ‘Coast of Origin’ 2013 Series event dates are as follows:
1. Sunshine Coast Regional Challenge (shortboards only) – July 13, 2013
2. Gold Coast Regional Challenge (shortboards only) – July 14, 2013
3. World Surfaris ‘Coast of Origin’ Series 2013 ‘State Challenge’ (shortboards, longboards & SUPS) – July 27 & 28, 2013 on the Gold Coast.
