Maxing conditions allow Nazaré, Portugal supersession
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 29 January, 2013 : - - Nazaré, Portugal was hit by a massive north-west swell which lit up the reef at praia do norte in perfect south-east wind conditions. Garrett McNamara was charging the maxing conditions and now a huge global audience can see one of the biggest waves ridden to date.
Garrett is said to have broken his own record for the largest wave surfed. Global press outlets are calling the wave to be around 100ft. If the claims are verified (and these things take time and vary according to sources), it will mean that McNamara has beaten his previous record, which was also set at Nazaré.
