Vans' Van Doren Series earns SIMA Image Award

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 February, 2013 : - - The Vans team earned recognition by industry peers Thursday night at the 10th Annual SIMA Image Awards (Surf Industry Manufacturers Association).  Vans took away top honors with Footwear Product of the Year for our Van Doren Series featuring popular Classics styles with prints culled from Vans' vast archives and received a first-ever nomination for Environmental Product of the Year with the Nexpa Pro sandal utilizing a 'cradle-to-cradle' footbed recycling program.

"We're thankful for the SIMA Image Award recognition and the continued support from retailers and consumers as it underscores our progression into a surf industry leader," said Dave Solomon, Vans' Vice President of Footwear. "We're very proud of the team here and to be part of such a rich Southern California surf culture that has influenced Vans since our inception."

Vans has been recognized by SIMA with six nominations in the  Footwear Product of the Year category over the past six years, and has been honored to receive four awards for the Slip On, Authentic, Van Doren Series from Vans' Classics collection and the Surf Sider from Vans' hanging footwear offering.

The SIMA Image Awards recognition is the result of voting by specialty retailers and industry peers and reflects a brand and product's impact in the marketplace.
