Vans Surfers John Florence and Dane Reynolds Bring Eclectic Surf Community to Brooklyn
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 25 February, 2013 : - - More than 600 friends and surf fans gathered together in New York this past weekend to welcome Vans surfers John Florence and Dane Reynolds and celebrated two nights of original art and film including Dane Reynolds’ new Vans signature footwear collaboration, and John Florence’s first independently produced surf film titled, Done.
Kicking off Vans’ surf celebration in New York last Friday, Dane Reynolds presented his new Vans Surf Sider Collaboration at specialty surf shop Pilgrim Surf + Supply in Brooklyn. Surrounding a centerpiece installation of Dane’s original photography, partygoers mingled amongst the finest of surf enthusiasts including Rockaway beach locals, Mitch Abshere of Captain Fin Co., and surfers John, Nathan and Ivan Florence just to name a few. Launching this spring, the Vans x Dane Reynolds pack features unique patterns and prints created by Dane on three classic Vans silhouettes in the Surf line.
On Saturday, the festivities recommenced at the House of Vans for the premiere of John Florence’s first self produced film project, Done. Accompanied by his entire family and Done co-director Blake Vincent Kueny, John celebrated the film with an ecstatic crowd of surfers, skateboarders, artists and fans alike, including a surprising visit from actor Jeffrey Wright.
A boisterous crowd roared during the film’s best moments, while enjoying an eclectic musical soundtrack and food by Brooklyn favorite fare, Roberta’s. Filmed with a unique set of DIY angles, Done is captured in various formats ranging in HD, 16mm and 8mm, and encapsulates John Florence in his element as he conquers the world’s best waves. Watch Done now, available to download at the iTunes Store.
