ASP and Globosat in deal brokered by MP&Silva
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 February, 2013 : - - ASP announced today an exclusive sponsorship and broadcasting deal with Globosat for the 2013 ASP World Surfing Awards. This partnership was brokered by MP & Silva, a leading international media rights company. Globosat, the largest Latin American pay-tv broadcaster will sponsor and broadcast the 2013 ASP World Surfing Awards taking place on February 28, 2013 in Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast City, Australia.
The ASP World Surfing Awards is the sport’s premiere gala event. The evening brings together the world’s greatest surfers, industry icons, all major surf brands and world-class entertainers. Last year, the 2012 ASP Awards were broadcast for the first time LIVE on YouTube to over 29,000 people as well as Time Warner Cable in the United States. Highlights of the event ran in Europe, Brazil, South Africa, USA and throughout Australia.
For the 2013 ASP Awards, the partnership with Globosat through its action and adventure channel, called OFF, will guarantee live broadcasting of the event to Brazilian viewers.
Eduardo Borges, VP MP & Silva Americas, said: “We are delighted to introduce this partnership between Globosat and ASP. Surfing is very popular in Brazil and there is a new breed of Brazilian surfers such as Gabriel Medina and Caio Ibelli that should be competing for the main prizes. We are happy to allow Brazilian fans to have a chance to support their favorite surfers.”
Mano Ziul, CTO ASP, said: “ASP is pleased to return to Globosat's programing schedule for 2013. The Brazilian audience will be happy to be able to cheer their heroes live, in HD quality, at the ASP awards ceremony to be held in Australia. Thanks to MP&Silva that made this possible. Great assessment of the potential and understanding of the media product made this possible.”
Guilherme Zattar, Channel OFF Director, said: "A very talented generation of Brazilian surfers has arrived on the scene and should be contending for the world title for years to come. It will be a great pleasure to see them being addressed in real time and possibly celebrating each victory."
