ASP International appoints Brodie Carr as new CEO.

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 04 February 2005: - - Queensland, AUSTRALIA - (Friday, February 4, 2005) - Following an exhaustive search that began in August, 2004, the Association of Surfing Professionals (A.S.P.), the world governing body for professional surfing, has appointed Australian Brodie Carr as their new Chief Executive Officer. More than 280 international applications for the position were received, with final interviews taking place during tour-end events in Hawaii at the close of 2004.

Carr, 33, comes to the position with a wealth of qualifications and experience and moves to the Gold Coast from his prior employment in London. With a Bachelor of Business degree (Accounting & Banking), A.S.P.'s Board of Directors were most impressed by the highly relevant professional experience that Carr brings to the table.

His career to-date includes four and a half years with S.O.C.O.G., the Organizational body for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, filling a variety of key roles that included Basketball Field of Play Manager and Business Manager, Sport. Following that, Carr spent two years as General Manager with One Basketball, responsible for grass root development and management of the N.B.L. and W.N.B.L. professional leagues. Most recently, he spent the past two years in London in senior management positions of finance, licensing negotiations, brand management and strategic planning for two large companies.

Carr is part way through his MBA with the well regarded Australian Graduate School of Management, is a member of the Australian Society of C.P.A.’s (Certified Practicing Accountants), and is also a keen recreational surfer.

A.S.P. Chairman Richard Grellman officially welcomed Carr as C.E.O. this week.

“On behalf of the ASP board of directors, I am delighted that a person of this caliber, intelligence and enthusiasm - all possessed by Brodie in large measure, has signed on as our new C.E.O.," said Grellman.

A.S.P. President Wayne “Rabbit” Bartholomew is equally delighted to have Brodie on the team.

“I have a great sense of anticipation for the future of A.S.P. International," says Bartholomew. "Brodie is well qualified and possesses excellent experience. We all look forward to working with him as we take A.S.P. to the next level, and beyond. We have an action-packed calendar of Men's, Women's, Junior and Longboard competition for 2005, so the A.S.P. is in a perfect position to benefit from the impact that Brodie is set to make”.

Carr is highly motivated in taking the next step in his career and looks forward to applying his varied experience and knowledge to the burgeoning world of professional surfing.

“I am totally focused on taking the A.S.P. forward," said Carr. "The A.S.P. has provided me with a solid base from which to start and I am receiving the full support of both my fellow employees and the Board of Directors. I look forward to early meetings with our many stake-holders including event and industry players, professional surfers, sponsors, service providers and indeed all those who together make professional surfing the exciting and visually beautiful sport it is”.

ASP was expertly assisted in their search for a new C.E.O. by Talent2, an international recruitment agency.
