PORTUGAL RECEIVES EUROPEAN SURF CHAMPIONSHIP THIS SUNDAY

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 October, 2005 : - - This coming Sunday – 23rd of October, to the 30th of October at “Praia Nova” Costa da Caparica in Portugal,  the EUROPEAN SURF CHAMPIONSHIP - EUROSURF 2005 - will take place, organized by Centro Internacional de Surf and Natural Factor with the collaboration of the Yoga Center of Costa de Caparica – specialized in Yoga for Surfers.

EUROSURF 2005 is the most important European competition for teams and will bring around 250 athletes from all Europe to Portugal. The best athletes of Masculine and Feminine Open in the modalities of Surf, Bodyboard and Longboard compose each Team.

Compete in this Eurosurf about 12 teams, composed by 21 elements each, among them: Portugal, Spain, France, England, Ireland, Wales, Germany, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Austria, Israel, Channel Islands, and Scotland.

• 23rd October – 11:00 a.m. with:
- Opening Ceremonial on October 23rd, Sunday with the presence of the President of ESF and parade of all the European teams, that together with the President of the Portuguese Federation of Surf will make the spectacular union of all the sands and waters of the participant countries.

- Demonstration of advanced Yoga by the TÁNDAVA group of the Lusa Yoga Association, executed by surfers who practice Yoga, joining for the 1st time in a surf event Yoga and Surf, demonstrating the spectacular’s benefits of this practice.

• 3:00p.m. – The Competion Starts

PORTUGAL RECEIVES EUROPEAN SURF CHAMPIONSHIP

From the 22nd to 30th of October on “Praia Nova” Costa da Caparica in Portugal,  the EUROPEAN SURF CHAMPIONSHIP - EUROSURF 2005 - will take place, organized by Centro Internacional de Surf and Natural Factor with the collaboration of the Yoga Center of Costa de Caparica – specialized in Yoga for Surfers.

EUROSURF 2005 is the most important European competition for teams and will bring around 250 athletes from all Europe to Portugal. The best athletes of Masculine and Feminine Open in the modalities of Surf, Bodyboard and Longboard compose each Team.

This contest takes place of 2 in 2 years and it is a event of ESF - European Surfing Federation and it attributes individual titles and teams titles.

Compete in this Eurosurf about 16 teams, composed by 21 elements each, among them: Portugal, Spain, France, England, Ireland, Wales, Germany, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Austria, Israel, Channel Islands, and Scotland.

Several activities are prepared for these days:

• Opening Ceremonial on October 23rd, Sunday with the presence of the President of ESF and parade of all the European teams, that together with the President of the Portuguese Federation of Surf will make the spectacular union of all the sands and waters of the participant countries.

• Demonstrations of advanced Yoga by the TÁNDAVA group of the Lusa Yoga Association, executed by surfers who practice Yoga, joining for the 1st time in a surf event Yoga and Surf, demonstrating the spectacular’s benefits of this practice.

• Daily classes of Surf at the beach (theoretical and practices) organized by the Centro Internacional de Surf

• Daily classes of Yoga at the beach organized by the Center de Yoga Costa da Caparica – specialized in Yoga for Surfers

• Parties encouraged in the nights of 29 and 30 of October in the Centro Internacional de Surf – CDS Beach with Dj’s invited and music concerts.
 
The entrance is free and it is destined not only for Surfers but also to all those who want to participate in any one of the activities of the championship.

This competition will last 10 days, being 8 of competition. Beginning on the 23rd, Sunday, after the opening ceremonial.

YOGA AND SURF TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME
AT THE EUROPEAN SURF CHAMPIONSHIP

The YOGA CENTER of COSTA DE CAPARICA – specialized in Yoga for Surfers and LUSA YOGA ASSOCIATION will be present at the EUROSURF 2005 and, for the first time, Yoga and Surf will be together in a EUROPEAN SURF CHAMPIONSHIP.

During the championship the YOGA CENTER of COSTA DE CAPARICA will demonstrate the spectacular benefits of Yoga applied to Surf with:

• Free classes every day for surfers -  from morning until afternoon - at the beach
• Demonstrations of advanced Yoga by the TÁNDAVA group of the Lusa Yoga Association, executed by surfers who practice Yoga
• Exposition at the beach with all the information of Yoga for Surfers

Everyone is welcome to join and participate in this activities to make contact with this extraordinary philosophy

It is world-wide accepted that Yoga is one of the best complements to surf.
Between its many benefits the Yoga, through the practice of the ÀSANA (physical, biological and psychological positions) the Yoga provides extraordinary flexibility, resistance and balance.

Yoga diminishes the frequency of physical damage done by a high level competition and also, with the Yoga techniques of RELAXATION it allows a fast and complete physical recovery to the surfer.

The Yoga breathing exercises - PRÁNÁYÁMA - increases the available energy, the resistance to the cold, the pulmonary capacity and provides a better air management in the lungs when the surfer needs to keep his air underwater for a long time to make his best maneuvers.

Through MEDITATION and one of its levels - the concentration – the surfer gets the domain of the mind and improves the rapidity of its movements, allowing him to find the right timming in the wave, to use all the advantages that appear to him.

The regular practice of Yoga provides well-being, lasting health, relaxation anti-stress, it raises the auto-confidence, emotional control and favors a spectacular performance not only by teaching to fight and to exceed all the circumstantial factors of tension, but also by increasing the latent capacities in the practitioner in all competition plans such as great waves and intense cold.

According to surfers who practice Yoga, the Yoga intensifies the fantastic experience of surf, it improves the surfer relationship with the Sea and Nature and places them in a full connection with the Cosmic plan.

LUSA YOGA ASSOCIATION:
The LUSA YOGA ASSOCIATION is the the most important, vast and credible Yoga Institution in Portugal distributed over 40 cities from the North to the South of Portugal.
